Maccabiah Highlights from Sollelim

I liked the opening dance to the basketball events of Maccabiah. I was on the yellow team. Even though preparing for our dance was a challenge, it was a lot of fun to preform. We did it based on Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, but instead it was Ya'akov Bryant playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv. I loved the blue teams' dance. My brother held the big arrow because it was a part of their "Faceblook" idea. It was so cute! Overall, Maccabiah was something I'll never forget. -Ellie F.

Opening ceremony is always my favorite part of Maccabiah. It is so much fun to preform and to watch. The dances are so cool! Our dance was based on the story of Adam and Eve but we used ideas from The Lion King and Justin Bieber. Since the opening ceremony was at night, many teams used flashlights  and glow sticks, which makes them look even cooler than they already were! -Breanna

The closing preformances were really nice and very different. The red team took on a more competative and complex cheer and dance, while the green team wanted to showcase various talents of their teammates in a longer performance. The yellow team did a story along with a cheer about being golden, which was very nice. The blue team went for a more religous but cute, route. The younger kids on the blue team wrote letters to God and read them out loud. In the end, Green won by about 300 points. Blue came in second, and Yellow beat Red by only 5 points! Even though my team lost, I had a lot of fun at Maccabiah. Everyone's a winner at Machenei Ramah! -Emma R.
